Typically, there are around 10,000 agents working in the FBI at any given period, but there is only one lead international kidnapping negotiator, and that is our guest today!
His name is Chris Voss and prior to 2008, Chris led kidnapping negotiations all around the world for the United States’ FBI. On top of that, Chris was the hostage negotiation representative for the National Security Council’s Hostage Working Group. During his government career, he also represented the U.S. at two international conferences sponsored by the G-8 as an expert in kidnapping. Prior to becoming the FBI’s lead kidnapping negotiator, Chris served as the lead Crisis Negotiator for the New York City Division of the FBI and, he has been a member of the city’s Joint Terrorist Task Force for 14 years.
After his 24 year tenure in the FBI Chris founded The Black Swan Group with his son Brandon helping corporations and businesses get the most optimal results at the negotiating table.

Listeners, welcome to the show! Today, have a pioneer from the early days of social networking and one of the co-founders of LinkedIn on the podcast! We are going to get behind the mind and the story of how the world’s largest online business network got its start!
He co-founded LinkedIn with Reid Hoffman, Allen Blue, Jean-Luc Vaillant and Eric Ly, and his name is Konstantin Guericke. LinkedIn went public in 2011 for $4 billion and was purchased by Microsoft in 2016 for $26 billion.
Recognizing the potential of the Internet with its vast networking possibilities, Konstantin and his future co-founder Reid Hoffman developed the idea for LinkedIn.
Konstantin led the company’s marketing to profitability. For the first few years, he focused on positioning/branding, viral marketing, user engagement emails and media relations. Later, he also managed LinkedIn Groups, international expansion and the corporate sales team.
In May of 2003, LinkedIn was officially released. They had 81,000 users by the end of that year, over ½ a million by their 12-month mark and 4.5 million users at the end of their second year.
We’re going to dive into LinkedIn’s story with Konstatin and how he has been making an impact in the entrepreneurial world since he left LinkedIn.

Our guest today is someone that I have followed since I first heard about him when I was 25 years old. Somewhere I came across this cool hour long surf video and I used to watch 2-3 times a week as a sort of meditation/visualization process picturing myself living somewhere where I could surf on a regular basis, and enjoy the beach lifestyle. One day, I was looking up more cool surf videos on YouTube and came across a video of this guy that would surf the biggest and most difficult waves anyone could surf. And I remember him saying in one of his videos on how he said he felt called to the waves, how the waves just called him in, and this really stuck out for me because many times I had felt called to climb mountains, travel the world, go on adventures and I didn’t really know where it came from, because the things that I was doing were semi crazy compared to everyone else I knew at the time. but that I had this intuitive feeling of being called to things also. During one of his videos he said this quote that struck me to my core. It was, “Do not be afraid of death, be afraid of a half lived life.” This really resonated with me, it spoke to me and I thought to myself….I like this guy. Since that moment I have followed him and watched multiple documentaries about the accomplishments he has taken on and how he lives his life. He is one of the two biggest names in surfing, and has become the Michael Jordan of big wave surfing and his name is Laird Hamilton.
I will be honest, I was nervous as hell before the interview. I think that is expected when anyone meets their role model/superhero for the first time. But after a couple minutes, it really felt like I was speaking to an uncle that I had known for years. Laird was really down to earth, a good conversationalist and just fun to hang out with for the time we had together. We got nearly an hour and a half to chat on this interview and we talked about so much during that time, but what I really wanted to get out of the conversation is Lairds mentality, how he sees the world, and why he chooses to live his life the way he does. I think I did a pretty good job of that, while both of us having a really good time during the interview. We touch on everything from competition surfing, handling opposing views, near death experiences, inner-callings and being connected with one's higher-self, his passion for innovation, living a healthy and high-performance lifestyle and of course keeping his home balance and family routine. We dive into breathwork, Laird’s current recommended books, flow-states, reducing stress goal setting, daily rituals, the type of people Laird surrounds himself with, riding Teahupoo, where he conquered the impossible wave to ride that really put him at the top of big wave surfing and we find out if Laird still fears a half lived life. Exotic Cars, Off-Road Racing, Laser-Tag in the Air, & Blowing Things Up
Yes...it sounds unreal but it is not!
We are taking a group of entrepreneurs to Vegas for a week of driving the most exotic cars in the world, jumping off-road Rally Race trucks, shooting military grade weapons out of a helicopter, playing laser-tag in stunt planes....
....and we might do a bit of networking and ideation while there as well!
Have you ever played Grand Theft Auto?
Remember that game where you navigate through the city and steal Lamborghinis, blow things up, shoot top grade military weapons at drug dealers, drive off-road and fly planes that you stole from the Cartel?
Grand Theft Auto became one of the most popular video games of all time and even if you aren’t into gaming there is a chance you played GTA and enjoyed it at least once in your life.
We wanted to recreate that experience for the thrill seeking entrepreneurs out there, minus of course the actual stealing, shooting people, and looting. :P
So we’re going to Las Vegas February 2022 to drive exotic high-performance cars around a race track, race Rally trucks off-road, shoot military grade weapons out of a helicopter, and play laser-tag in actual stunt planes flown by actual stunt pilots….
Yes you heard me right...we will be playing laser-tag - dog fighting style - in actual stunt planes!
And everyone attending will be established entrepreneurs already running successful businesses.
