Ep.507 ~ Brain Focus 2.0 - Different Brains Need Different Music for Peak Performance ~ Will Henshall

June 9, 2021

We have an absolutely fascinating guest on today's show. His name is Will Hentschel. He is the founder of Focus@Will. Focus@Will is a music productivity company that features music that is scientifically optimized for different types of personalities and brains. Now, something really interesting about Will, Will was in a 90’s band that became very famous. The name of the band is London Beat, they have five big hits, and if you ever heard the song “I've Been Thinking About You.” it is actually a creation and production of Will’s.

On the show we talk about  the different types of music that work really well for one brain versus the other brain. People that have ADD and ADHD, there is a certain type of music that helps you become very productive, which would annoy the heck out of the rest of us. For people that are more calm and relaxed or people that are kind of inbetween that stage of calm and relaxed and ADD there's different types of music that work really well for us. Some people are incredibly productive with meditative music. Some people need a bit higher intensity for their productivity music.  Will and I chat about the neuroscience and how the brain is functioning when different types of music are playing for different types of people in different situations.

I had a list of notes to ask Will during this interview, I hardly even got to that list because everything was so fascinating throughout the interview. If you're into productivity, focus music, and getting shit done, check out the podcast!

Ep.504 ~ Building a 9-Figure Online Company ~ Dan Roitman

May 19, 2021

Dan Roitman is the founder of Stroll, an eCommerce platform company that specialized in marketing education products. Through Stroll, Dan turned Pimsleur into the second largest language learning platform in the US, and close to a $100 Million product line. For seven years in a row, his company that he started in his college dorm room was on the Inc. 5000 list, the Philadelphia 100, and Internet Retailers top 500 list. He’s also been recognized as a ‘40 Under 40’ by both Direct Marketing News and the Philadelphia Business Journal For a ten-year period, Stroll had an annual growth rate of over 70%. The company became an $80 million professionally managed organization with more than 125 employees. Dan had a fascination with personal development products that began in college when he needed to quickly learn how to build and manage a business. He was able to self-fund the growth of Stroll through his own constant commitment to business improvement and the ability to leverage sophisticated marketing analytics and advanced e-commerce techniques.

To quote Dan….

“I realized the only way to succeed would be to leverage the few dollars at hand. I had access to several third-party testing and optimization tools. All I needed to do was monitor and assure an ROI on every advertising dollar invested so that I could ultimately optimize my results until I was successful. Analytics and optimization became my rallying cries—a means to lift me from my own disaster and build a quickly growing business.

Today, Dan is focused on his early education business, MindFinity, and also mentors high-growth entrepreneurs in his spare time. Dan sold Stroll a few years back. We’re going to talk about that today, on top of Dan’s mindset and high-performance tips, along with his new venture MindFinity.

Ep.503 ~ Applying FBI Expert Negotiation Skills in Business ~ Brandon Voss

May 5, 2021

How does the FBI, CIA and Special Ops teams negotiate with kidnappers, international terrorists and the most dangerous people on the planet? Are there secret strategies to negotiate that give you a superpower for getting anything that you want? What if you just learned a few key tips on negotiating to save a couple thousand dollars on the price of your next car?

Well the truth is, there are tips and strategies we can use to learn how to be better negotiators, they are easy to learn, and it doesn’t take months of training to pick up. In fact, everything in life is a negotiation. You negotiate with people you live with, your family, and friends, strangers, and you even negotiate with yourself on a daily basis. Quite often, they are simple things like what you’re going to eat for dinner, other times they are more important things, like what school to send your kids to. Good negotiation is really about good communication, and learning to the back and forth of communication well. It is not about manipulation, but about empathic communication, and understanding others points of view.

Today, we have one of the top authorities on negotiation on our podcast, and I am really excited to have him on the show! His name is Brandon Voss, and he is the President of The Black Swan Group. The Black Swan Group is a strategic business advisory firm that focuses on business negotiation. Their negotiation structure stems from Brandon’s father Chris Voss who was the FBI’s lead international kidnapping negotiator for 20 years. They use hostage negotiation skills to solve business negotiation problems, and it works like a charm.  It is a process that recalibrates communication efforts in order to close better deals and create long lasting relationships.

Brandon is Black Swan’s thought leader with respect to the three main negotiator types: The Analyst, the Assertive and the Accommodator. Knowing these three types can change your results massively when closing deals. It gives you an edge over others when sitting at the negotiating table. Throughout the show, we are going to discuss Brandon’s strategies, how to use them to make more money, find out how to mitigate conflict with confidence, become a better communicator, and create better relationships in our own lives. Last, but certainly not least, we will talk about the little known ‘Black Swan’ effect that is essential to understand when negotiating any deal in your life.

Ep.502 ~ Using the Uber Model For Other Industries ~ Bryan Clayton, founder of GreenPal

April 28, 2021

~ High-Performance Entrepreneurship ~

Bryan Clayton is CEO and cofounder of GreenPal an online marketplace that connects homeowners with local lawn care professionals. Just a few episodes ago we had the man that made the 80/20 Principle famous Richard Koch on the show Episode 496. Richard talked in depth about true ‘Network Businesses’ like Uber that is nothing but an app that connects people that provide a service, and people that need a service. Richard mentioned that in today’s world one would be crazy for not building, starting, investing and working in or with a ‘Network Business.’ And I agree! Network Businesses are making life more convenient one additional app at a time.

Bryan, our guest today has created GreenPal a true ‘Network Business’ for the lawn care industry connecting those people that need lawn care work to those lawn care professionals that want to come and take care of someone's lawn. GreenPal has been called the “Uber for lawn care” by Entrepreneur magazine and has over 200,000 active users completing thousands of transactions per day.

Before starting GreenPal, Bryan founded Peachtree Inc. one of the largest landscaping companies in the state of Tennessee growing it to over $10 million a year in annual revenue before it was acquired by Lusa holdings in 2013.

Ep.501 ~ How to Get People to Sell Your Product ~ Hanieh Sigari

April 21, 2021

She saw over 600% year-to-year growth with a healthcare startup, while at the same time in an eCommerce business her company drove revenue from $0 to over $20 million in just 5 years. With that success, shockingly enough came the hollow feeling of unfulfillment. This is what actually happens to many entrepreneurs when they feel that the path of success they are following isn’t quite in alignment with their grander purpose in life. It is a pivotal moment when people start to really question themselves, and also a moment when they quite often create their most impactful businesses.

Our guest today is Hanieh Sigari, and she is the founder of Qyral is a skincare company that provides individualized, and science-based products while offering an opportunity for people to become co-partners and entrepreneurs with the company at the same time. Qyral is a pathway for women to change their health, incomes and lives. Hanieh founded this company after realizing she wanted to really make a different type of difference in the world. She was inspired as a young woman by her mother whose efforts lifted hundreds of wartime widows out of poverty.

On top of being a successful entrepreneur that built an 8-figure company, Hanieh is also a biochemist, and striving to make a big difference in the anti-aging industry. Qyral, is the culmination of a lifelong mission to improve the lives and health of others.

~ High-Performance Entrepreneurship ~

Lindsey Heppner. Lindsey is the founder of VAMPPED, one of the top recognizable influencer agencies out there today. Lindsey became successful in the social media marketing world starting her company VAMPPED more than 7 years ago. Within two years, VAMPPED became a multi-million dollar agency adding multiple services to the brand, and she pioneered the concept of influencer tours.
